-Migration-
By: Sean Venzon
For the first time in my life,
My parents said to us,
We are moving from the Philippines to New Zealand.
Dad said he has a plan
And Mom said keep calm
everything happens for a reason
We just need to believe
And ignore the different confusions.
One Monday night we were in a hurry,
Because my family and I are moving to another country.
I was scared, worried, and didn’t know what to expect,
Solitude and sadness to be exact.
A whole new chapter of my life is about to start,
I was nervous and my pulse started to beat fast.
I need to accept the fact,
That things are going to be different.
Self acceptance is the key,
To let my nervousness be free.
It wasn’t easy to adapt to a new environment,
An environment which will be my new home,
An environment that I’m about to roam,
An environment where some things are different,
An environment that is very significant.
A new circle of people to recognise and to make friends with,
Places to discover and make memories with.
With the help of my family,
And maybe some new friends
I should be brave to the very end
To face the new challenges
And what lies ahead.
